See You at the Pole (SYATP)

See You at the Pole (SYATP) is an annual gathering of Christian students of all ages at a flagpole in front of their local school for prayer, scripture-reading and hymn-singing, during the early morning before school starts. The American SYATP events occur on every fourth Wednesday of September. This annual gathering began in 1990. It has grown by word of mouth, announcements at youth rallies and churches, and the Internet; SYATP meetings now occur internationally.

We attended the short service this morning at Bessey Creek Elementary (“BCE”) in Palm City where my 2 boys attend. The service was led by The Rev. Matthew Kozlowski of St Mary’s Episcopal Church in Stuart FL. It was the largest gathering yet for SYATP at BCE and it was a nice prayer break from our usual morning routine.

Rev. Kozlowski (“Fr. Koz”) is Assistant Rector at St Mary’s Church in Stuart. Fr. Koz is new to our community and St Mary’s but his ministry at the church is becoming very popular among young families seeking a comfortable place to worship.
